On December 19, 2008, Svyatoho Mykolaya (St. Nicholas' Day), for the third consecutive year members the Kyiv Multinational Rotary Club visited the Special Boarding School No. 8 (for mentally challenged children), in Kyiv's Podil district.

The aim of this project is to inject some cheer in to the lives of children on a day when not a single child should be forgotten. Prior to the distribution of presents and sweets to the 114 children at the school, and the presentation of a new Father Frost costume to the school, Rotarians were treated to a puppet show peformed by a number of the children. After performance past President of the Club, Roman Shwed, thanked the children as well as the school's administration for such a wonderful peformance and their invitation, and expressed our members are pleased to help the school in ways which we can. Prior to the children returning to their classes Jason Pochapsky, a friend of Rotary, sang a couple of Christmas songs while accompanying himself on guitar and harmonica. However, it was not Jason that was a big with the children, but his Pekinese "Zhennya" that received more attention than she had in time. One of the administrator's at the school mentioned that they had heard of animal therapy for children such as those that attend their school, however, the strick and still often sometimes backwards regulations of the country do not allow them to have animals in the school. Clearly, that day an exception was made.

On November 27, 2008, KMRC held a Traditional American Thanksgiving Dinner in order to raise funds for the flood victims of the Bukovyna region in western Ukraine. The dinner was held at the Bukovyna Restaurant, the club's regular meeting place, and featured all the traditional makings of a Thanksgiving Day dinner inclucing: Turkey with stuffing, cranberry sauce, yams, mashed potatoes with gravey, assortment of vegetables and both apple and pumpkin pies served with ice cream. After the official opening of the evening by Vasyl Pawlowsky, KMRC President, and Rotarian Larissa Paschyn, guests not only enjoyed the sweet voice of Yevhenia Sakharova while partaking great company and the degustation of some great food but also took part in the raffle of some great prizes, and an auction of items provided by Rotarians and sponsors. KMRC would like thank the ACC in Ukraine for getting the word out in their newsletter to members, Gloria Jean's Coffee, and all its members who contributed to a successful event.

On October 7, 2008 and as a result of successful fund raising efforts at our Midsummer Night's Charity Ball held in June of 2008, four members of KMRC traveled to Krasyliv Regional Hospital in Khmelnytsky oblast to officially present an incubator. Annually between 10,000 and 11,000 newborn infants die in Ukraine due to the lack of much needed medical equipment. In an effort to reduce this number, KMRC has undertaken an effort of supplying regional hospitals with this type of equipment. After an extensive search and an examination of the hospital and its staff the Krasyliv Regional Hospital was chosen for the receipt of the first incubator of many which KMRC plans to provide in the years to come.

Together with the European Business Association on September 27, 2009 members of Multinational Rotary Club were involved in a clean up of Florence Park Troyeshchyna District of Kyiv. The project was but a little way for KMRC members to work environmental issues in Ukraine. KMRC President noted that the idea of being involved more with environmental problems came up when he and the club's Vice-President Dirk walking along Lesya Ukraininka Blvd near the Central Election Commission, and noticed bags everywhere. Upon seeing this they began to contact other organizations which are more environmentally focused to see how such a problem could be handled. This resulted in KMRC partnering with the EBA and the Eco-Club at Kyiv Mohyla University for this small yet rather symbolic event of cooperation. With a little bit of PR RC members made it into the local print media Khreschatyk [Paper against plastic - See our In The Media section], as well as on to RFE/RL Ukrainian broadcasting service [Millionaires with brooms - ITM]
